Sport and Physical Education at Star of the Sea work closely together to provide students with a very challenging and comprehensive program.
The Physical Education Program aims to develop in students self-confidence, mutual respect and a recognition of the importance of health and fitness.
During all Physical Education classes, students are encouraged to participate fully to explore and realise their potential.
These classes provide students with the opportunity to experience a wide range of traditional and recreational sports, as well as new developments and trends in the sporting world.
Our sporting program then looks to build on the skills that students have learnt in their Physical Education classes with a wide variety of co-curricular sporting activities in which students may choose to take part.
Star of the Sea is an inaugural member of Girls' Sport Victoria (GSV) which began competition in 2001.
Twenty-four independent Girls' Schools from across the state have formed this body, within a wide range of inter-school sports meetings and competitions are administered for students in Years 7 to 12.
GSV aims to enhance self-worth by developing skills and promoting positive attitudes towards health and lifelong involvement in physical activity and sport.
Through our involvement in Girls' Sport Victoria, students have the opportunity to represent their school in fifteen different sports.
The emphasis is always on commitment, organisation and striving to achieve one's best.
Owing to our school's bayside location and involvement with GSV, our students are very fortunate to be able to access and utilise many of the world class facilities that Melbourne has to offer.
The inter-house system complements the inter-school sports program and provides a wide range of opportunities for students to try their hand at a range of sports.
House events including Swimming and Athletics Carnivals are conducted throughout the year.
