Welcome to the Star of the Sea community! We hope that you and your daughter enjoy your years at Star and that all of you make many long lasting friendships and contacts.
One way for parents to become part of the community and to enhance your family’s time at Star is to join the Parents’ Association.
Let us tell you a little about ourselves:
What are the aims of the Parents' Association?
Our primary objectives are to provide opportunities for social contact between parents and to raise funds for equipment and activities that are not covered by school fees.
The Parents’ Association usually hold several social events such as the Welcome Night for new Parents, the annual Trivia Night and an annual event such as a Dinner Dance or Rock ‘n Roll night, as well as other events or fund raising ventures such as a Wine night
We also help to run sausage sizzles for the girls and support staff at information nights and other events where help is needed.
The Parents’ Association operates the College Uniform Shop and we assist with the second-hand book sale each year.
In the recent past we have been concentrating on raising funds for Smart Boards for class rooms. We have also contributed to new window coverings for many of our classrooms and with the purchasing of computer equipment.
We also provide the ever-popular t-shirts for various sporting teams.
How can you support our objectives?
You can attend our meetings and also help us achieve our objectives by attending and supporting our functions and ventures throughout the year.
We will notify you of these functions three to four weeks before the event with a notice attached to the College Newsletter which is issued every two weeks. The Newsletter is also published on the school's web site.
What are the benefits of joining the Parents' Association?
Raising funds to assist your daughter’s school can be extremely satisfying.
Being a member of the Parents' Association can also provide you with opportunities to meet and work with other parents, to informally meet the teaching staff and will give you an insight into the way the College operates.
It also shows your daughter that you consider the School an important part of your family life.
When does the Parents' Association have its meeting?
We meet at 8.00pm on the first Monday of every month during the school terms in the Staff Dining Room. Our meetings are short, informal and sometimes humorous.
The Principal, Sandra Diafas, attends each of our meetings.
How can you join the Parents' Association?
We cordially invite all parents to join us at any of our meetings.
